Reading Log Bookmarks

As a huge bookworm, I love making bookmarks to go with my books. I saw these reading log bookmarks all over Pinterest and social media, and decided I needed to make some for myself and potentially sell. I could have found templates to print and use, but I wanted to create my own in Canva. This is a fun way to track the books you read over the year. I added these to a craft show I did and sold them as a bundle of 3 with different designs and colours.

When you create these bookmarks, make sure you have enough space to write the book title. I had to move the lines and adjust the size a few times. Most of the templates I have looked at all had stars for the rating system, but I wanted to do something different, so I went with hearts! I added images in areas for colouring if I wanted, but it's totally optional.

How to Create

I used Canva to create the bookmarks. You can find templates everywhere to download and print. I won't go into too much detail on how to create the template because it comes down to what you want, for example, the distance between each line.

The Design

1. Open Canva and create a custom size of 3in by 6in.
2. Create your bookmark. There are a few different ways to make these. Keep playing until you are happy. 
3. Once you have created your design(s), download them.
4. Open Cricut Design Space and upload the reading log(s). 
5. Double-check the size once it uploads; sometimes it makes it bigger than it should be.
6. Duplicate if needed.

Printing the bookmarks

1. Make sure the Cricut machine and printer are both on.
2. Load the coloured cardstock into the printer.
3. Go to “make” and then click “continue.”
4. Click “send to printer”, I keep the bleed option, but you don’t have to.
5. If you are happy with the settings, click “print.”
6. Once the print is done, place the cardstock onto the mat using the brayer to help adhere it to the mat.
7. Load the mat into the machine.
8. Choose the cardstock setting you need.
9. Click “continue” and click the flashing “C” when prompted.
10. Flip the mat over and peel the mat off the cardstock to help keep it from curling. 
11. Take the corner punch and round the corners.
12. Repeat as needed.
13. If you want too can add a hole to add a tassel to give it a little extra.

Grab your book, find a comfortable spot and read your book (all day)!
