Who doesn’t love a pretty garland?! I wanted a garland that would fit with Valentine’s Day. Making the garland pink, I can hang it in my office and keep it there all year, as it matches my colour scheme.
I ordered the wrong size because I didn’t look at the size correctly when I bought them, but they were still usable for the project. It will take me longer to make because I want a long one, and the pom poms are so small. I ordered something like 200 mini pom poms, so I might make another one and add some embellishments.
I did stab myself with the needle a few times, so take your time threading. Make adjustments as needed; some pom poms are going to be a bit difficult to thread. I did the threading a little bit at a time. You aren't going to get them all evenly, so some will be a little higher or lower.
Materials
- Pink Mini Poms Poms (Amazon or Michaels)
- Pink embroidery floss or thread
- Needle (make sure the hole for the floss is not super small)
- Any embellishments: wooden beads, some hearts that can be threaded or hung or tassels on the ends
How to create

- Thread the embroidery floss or thread through the needle and leave a bit of a tail.
- Stick the needle through the middle of the pom pom as best you can. It may take a few tries.
- Thread the pom pom down as far as you want it to be to determine how long you might want it. You can leave a gap between the pom poms or have them touching.
- Thread embellishment if desired.
- Repeat until the desired length.
Depending on what embellishments you are using, thread on the embroidery floss when needed or tie them on after threading. Once the garland is done, hang it and adjust the pom poms if needed; some might have moved or removed.
